Camera Critters #231 - Don't Make a Monkey Out of Me - Saturday, September 9, 2012

When I opened the door to my room the other evening, I was so excited to see a
monkey parade passing right in front of my eyes.  There was a group of eight and
they were kind enough to stay while I grabbed my camera.  My landlady said
that monkeys are frequent in our Bani Park area and that they always travel in
a pack.

I started snapping away and loved the shots I was getting against the darkening
cloudy evening sky.  I became a little wary, however, when my first monkey did not
seem to appreciate a flash in his face and made to leap down on me.  An Indian
blogger friend commented that she was surprised the monkey didn't do so and
snatch the camera from me!

    1. Lina, they weren't all that calm. I imagine some folks give them food - they all seem well nourished. They did NOT like my flash photography, though.

    1. Jaipur is so interesting. There are monkeys all over, camels pull carts in the midst of vehicular traffic and there are painted elephants for tourists to ride.

    1. There were no cute baby monkeys in this group. I did get shots of some last time I was in Jaipur. Recently, I did another post of about a huge, very unfriendly monkey who came into my room and grabbed a bag of onions and tomatoes. It was really scary. He fled with them, with me and my camera in hot pursuit.

  7. Hi Carmen, Great to hear from you! so glad you are enjoying your trip and VERY happy to hear you are now in an apartment with air conditioning! Wow, that must have been brutal. Glad you're okay.

These monkeys looked cute until I saw the teeth! That looked kinda scary-- but how fun to be so close to them and get so many great pics.

    Keep having fun.

  8. Golly, Carmen, those are great photos, but those monkeys sure would freak Peggy out. She was afraid of monkeys anyway, and then we met a couple who had one and darned if it didn't bite Peggy, so now she's really afraid of them.

  10. I love monkeys. You got some excellent pictures. I've heard they can get kind of mean with people sometimes. It's still always fun to see them.
